Jigsaw Sudoku-x follows the same rules as a standard Sudoku puzzle, the only differences between the two are that the 3 x 3 square boxes are replaced with irregular (Jigsaw) shapes and the two diagonal lines of shaded cells that run from corner to corner.

The aim of the puzzle is to fill the blank cells with the correct numbers. Each row, column, irregular shape and shaded diagonal must end up containing all of the numbers from 1 to 9. Each number can only appear once in any row, column, irregular shape and shaded diagonal.
